INGRID SERBAN / “All Sales Final”
Growing up in a small government-issue apartment in Communist Romania, I often escaped that grey reality by improvising scores on my piano for make-believe stories.
I am very pleased to bring that childhood play into reality with my first film,” All Sales Final,” a silent, black & white short about finding hope in unexpected places. Hope and love might be considered trivial to some but to me, are vital in the face of death and despair.
I am interested in the rhythm of life, in the beauty of things around me, and the strengths and weaknesses of our human condition. For me, storytelling is holding the mirror up to nature and coloring that image with my own perceptions.
Ingrid Serban was born in Transylvania, Romania and spent the first part of her life studying piano and voice at the Sigismund Toduta Lycee in Cluj-Napoca. When she moved to the US, she continued her music studies alongside acting and writing.
“All Sales Final” is her film debut as writer, director, photographer, editor and composer.
The Debussy-like piano score was recorded live at Vineyard Studios in Kentfield, CA by Scott Steiner.
Ingrid lives in Mill Valley, CA with her husband, musician Forest Sun.
